Retail & Deli Assistant
This seasonal role within our small yet well-stocked grocery store is varied and centred on providing a quality customer experience, and assisting the team in the efficient operational running of the department. Our team culture is collaborative, communicative, dynamic and hard-working.

Reporting to: Stores Manager
Salary: Competitive, from £12.25 per hour
Hours: Full Time, with 2 days off per week
Contract Length: Seasonal, March to October
Duties Include
- Providing an excellent standard of customer service, handling customer queries with a polite and genuine manner
- Stock management including quality control checks, handling incoming deliveries and merchandising
- Light food handling duties – serving on the deli counter, cutting cheese, baking breads and pastries, abiding by food hygiene guidelines and maintaining a high standard of cleanliness
- Accurately handling cash and processing customer transactions, sometimes at speed / under pressure
- Assisting with daily cleaning procedures at the end of each shift
- Working constructively within a team, taking direction from the management team, as well as managing own time and completing tasks to deadlines
Our Ideal Candidate
- Ideally some experience in a customer-facing role would be useful
- Happy to work as part of a team, comfortable and willing to take direction, with great communication skills
- Adaptable and able to work flexibly in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment. Capable of multitasking with a high standard of delivery.
- Personable, patient, and comfortable with frequent interpersonal interaction
- Capable of working accurately under pressure, and able to manage own time
- Self-motivated, driven, and able to take the initiative where required
- Comfortable with performing physical tasks such as lifting heavy boxes, stocking floor-level shelves
- Strong attention to detail and great presentation both personally and in the standard of work produced
- Holder of a Food Hygeiene certificate or willing to obtain one
