Propagator/Horticulturalist (Permanent)
We’re looking for the pick of the crop to join our team in Tresco Abbey Garden, maintaining and growing our world-class collection.
Department: Tresco Abbey Gardens
Salary: From £24,500 per annum, dependent on experience
Benefits: Accommodation provided
Hours: 40 hours per week, with occasional weekend work
Contract Length: Permanent
Duties Include
- Delivering consistently high aesthetic and horticultural standards
- General cultivation duties such as propagation, watering, feeding, planting, training and pruning within the glass house range and garden
- Labelling and record keeping
- Working at height when necessary
- Maintaining health & safety records appropriate to the role
- Answering enquiries from the public
- Work and general duties across the island Estate where required
- Attending staff meetings and training as required
- Helping with and giving guided tours
Our Ideal Candidate
- Must be qualified to RHS Level 2 or higher
- Must hold a valid driving licence
- PA1 / 6 Spraying certificate (desirable)
- Will be a natural problem solver
- Able to work both unsupervised and as part of a team
- Have good communication and interpersonal skills
- Able to manage flexible workloads at different times of the year
- Must have a full, clean driver’s licence
