Win A Holiday to Tresco with Tate St Ives
UPDATE - THE COMPETITION HAS NOW CLOSED.
Congratulations to winner Margaret Duffield from the West Midlands!
To celebrate the opening of the new Tate St Ives gallery, we’re offering you the chance to win a seven-night break to beautiful Tresco Island on the Isles of Scilly…
Tresco Island, just 30 miles off the coast of Cornwall, boasts picturesque, unspoilt sandy beaches, clear azure waters, exotic gardens and world-class accommodation.
Although small, the privately owned island offers extraordinary natural variety: arcs of white sand on its shore, whilst inland there is, lush greenery, heath land and woodland to explore.
Tresco, with its unique temperate climate, is also home to the world-famous Abbey Gardens where visitors can expect to see a visual explosion of sub-tropical, early-flowering colour, unseen elsewhere in the UK.
Art lovers will be spoilt with works by the likes of Dame Laura Knight, Alfred Wallis, Mary Fedden and Jack Pender. The collection – which is on display in all accommodation and restaurants across the island – forms one of the most extensive collections of modern art connected with Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
Be inspired by the beauty of Tresco Island, soak up island life or simply admire the view from your cottage...
About Tate St Ives
On the edge of the ocean overlooking Porthmeor Beach, Tate St Ives was originally created to show works of art in the surroundings and atmosphere in which they were made.
A four-year building project has now doubled the space for showing art, adding almost 600 square metres of galleries, and creating spectacular new studios for learning activities.
For the first time, Tate St Ives will be able to give a permanent presence to those iconic 20th century artists who lived and worked in the town, demonstrating the role of St Ives in the story of modern art.
This will be combined with a new programme of large-scale seasonal shows, beginning with British sculptor Rebecca Warren’s first major UK exhibition and continuing next summer with a retrospective of celebrated painter Patrick Heron.
