The New Inn is golden!

At the heart of Tresco is the New Inn. For several decades, many a yarn has been spun over a pint, a repertoire of shanties sung, and island celebrations shared. The walls of the New Inn hold many stories and - if they could - they would relay rich tales of island life, music and history.

It is thus with great pleasure that we announce The New Inn’s recent achievement: receiving a Four Star Gold Award from Visit England.

We would like to applaud the entire team at the New Inn for such a feat; the result of hard work, efficiency and – as noted by the assessor – an exceptionally warm and friendly team. From housekeeping to reception, between the kitchen and front of house, everyone does their bit.

What’s more, this evaluation reflects the wonderful renovation that took place in the winter of 2021. Both in bedrooms and bathrooms; and the bar, lounge and terrace, we are still reaping the rewards of the New Inn’s new look and feel.

The report notes the neat and tidy bedrooms with polished surfaces and exceptionally clean bed linen. It highlights the characterful features and island artworks as well as log burners adding extra warmth and ambiance. Moreover, the restaurant is applauded for a menu and specials board that offers a very good choice of dishes to suit a range of tastes and dietary requirements. Finally, it was obvious that all guests at the New Inn are treated like old friends with reception staff waving goodbye to departing guests – many of whom have returned to Tresco year on year.

We are so proud of our island hub and it joins the Sea Garden and Flying Boat Cottages at Gold status. Thank you to Visit England and huge congratulations to everyone at The New Inn!
