Holiday Auction in aid of Isles of Scilly Wildlife Trust
Tresco Island is supporting the Isles of Scilly Wildlife Trust by auctioning a week’s holiday in one of our beautiful, traditional holiday cottages.
Being an island community, we recognise the need to care for our natural environment. We also recognise our part in the island chain and our responsibilities to care for the whole of the Isles of Scilly.
For this reason, we are supporting the Isles of Scilly Wildlife Trust by auctioning a week’s holiday on Tresco.
The Prize
The prize on offer is a week’s stay in beautiful Rowesfield Cottage on Tresco from Friday 1st September 2017.
Your 7 night self catering holiday will include complimentary bike hire, access to the Tresco Island Spa facilities and the Tresco Abbey Garden and a private guided wildlife walk with an Isles of Scilly Wildlife Trust ranger.
Rowesfield is one of our traditional, granite cottages and sits in a peaceful, rural location on Tresco’s eastern fringe, just a few moments’ stroll from the pristine sands of Pentle Bay and the bird hides overlooking the Great Pool. The cottage enjoys beautiful views across the fields to the sea and the Eastern Isles beyond.
The cottage sleeps up to six people. The entrance hall and kitchen lead to the lounge/diner with log burning stove and a porch with the large mature garden beyond. The ground floor also includes the master bedroom with ensuite bathroom with shower. Upstairs are two twin bedrooms (which can be made up as doubles by prior arrangement) and a bathroom with shower.
About the Isles of Scilly Wildlife Trust
The Isles of Scilly Wildlife Trust is a local, independent charity that looks after more than 60% of the islands, restoring and maintaining habitats for the benefit of people and wildlife on Scilly.
In all, they look after just under 2,000 hectares (1,333 football pitches) of the islands – both marine and terrestrial habitats. Their work ranges from uncovering and maintaining archaeological sites to grazing the open spaces of the islands to keep vegetation under control. They organize beach cleans and educational activities to encourage people to care for these beautiful islands and work hard to keep the network of paths across the islands clear and accessible.
In the last 12 months, their work has included uncovering 18 new archeological sites (to add to the 14 they already maintain), removed nearly half a ton of marine debris from the islands’ beaches, and cut and kept clear more than 63 miles of paths (that’s the equivalent of the distance from Scilly to Land’s End and back!)
