All The Fun of the Fête Helps Island Causes
The 2015 Tresco Fête was a huge success, raising a wonderful £4,700 for good causes on the island.
Despite a grey start to the day, the sun eventually came out, bringing with it hundreds of fête-goers eager to enjoy a traditional island event.
The fête raised funds for the Tresco and Bryher Gig Rowing Club, to assist with ongoing maintenance of the traditional wooden boats and other running costs incurred by the club, and will also help maintain the facilities at the Tresco Community Centre.
The Tresco Beef Barbecue was hugely popular, fuelling fête-goers on for the likes of welly wanging, a rowing challenge, ball games and a children's soft play area and bouncy castle. The bar, whilst popular, possibly didn't improve the high-scoring abilities of some of those taking part in the games!
There was also the chance to win exciting prizes in the Tombola and Raffle, as well as the chance to bag a bargain in the jumble sale.
Live music was provided by the wonderful Thunderbridge Bluegrass Band, who kept the crowds entertained as they basked in the beautiful Scillonian sunshine.
Thank you to all who turned out in support of the island community - and to all those who organised such a successful event!
