Hugo first came to Tresco in 1997 to paint a double portrait of Robert and Lucy Dorrien-Smith, and was so enchanted by the island that he returned to paint the landscape the following summer. He continued to find great inspiration in the heightened sense of light and colour which characterise Scilly at all times of year. He returned this May for the first time in a decade and has been beguiled all over again by its enchanting ways.
