Ocean Scilly Festival

This family-friendly festival will feature a mix of aquatic activities across the isles and educational and cultural events, talks and workshops.

Discover the depths with fascinating insights into the islands’ shipwrecks, tales from the lighthouses and a series of events celebrating our gig rowing heritage.

Scilly60 events will be bringing five exciting Swimrun adventures to the archipelago as part of the festival, from the main event (30km of trail running and 8km of open water swimming) to a Swimrun Taster for those just dipping their toes into the sport.

From kayaking, sailing, paddleboarding, and coasteering to a guided sea swim, diving around wrecks, and taking the unique opportunity to swim with seals around the Eastern Isles – jump right in!

Kayak from Bryher to uninhabited Samson with a Scillonian picnic – your very own desert island! For adrenaline-pumping fun, Kernow Coasteering will take you on an expedition around the rugged coastline. Sea safaris head to Bishop Rock Lighthouse and Sunset Sails, onboard a 50ft Bermudan yacht, provide some Scilly magic!

RNLI Lifeboat and crew water demonstrations in St. Mary’s Harbour with the opportunity to go aboard and tour the lifeboat afterwards. Scilly60 Events series of Swimruns are for all ages and abilities before culminating in the Archipelago Swimrun for the more experienced open water swimmers and trail runners. Gig-rowing taster sessions, shipwreck tours, wildlife talks with Isles of Scilly Wildlife Trust, pirate and mermaid games for the children and much more!
