The New Inn

At the heart of Tresco lies The New Inn - our welcoming island local, brimming with character and adorned with nautical relics. Open year-round, it’s a cosy hub for locals and visitors alike.

Settle in at the Driftwood Bar, gather with friends in the wreckwood-lined snug, bask in the sunshine and sea views from the sheltered terrace, or enjoy a more intimate dining experience in the light-filled Pavilion.

We're open throughout the day, serving everything from hearty breakfasts and freshly baked cakes with morning coffee, to classic pub lunches and wholesome evening dinners - perfect after a day exploring the island. Entertainment varies by the day, whether it’s the sounds of live music or the simple beauty of a sunset over New Grimsby harbour.

Our talented kitchen team, led by Head Chef Liam Caves, champions seasonal British classics with a Tresco twist. We work closely with local growers, fishers, and farmers, using as much island-grown, reared, and landed produce as possible.

In the summer, the Ox Grill on the terrace brings a little theatre and a lot of flavour - cooking over coals to enhance the natural flavours and aromas of the finest local ingredients.

Our menus shift with the seasons, but you’ll always find comforting favourites - like our legendary Sunday roast, served every weekend without fail.

We only take bookings for dinner; there's no need to book for lunch.

At lunchtime, you're welcome to just turn up; if we're really busy, just enjoy a glass of something in the sunshine for a short while until we can find you a table.

In the evenings, we only take indoor reservations, so there's usually plenty of space, even if we're showing as fully booked.

We take indoor bookings only, but you're welcome to move outside if there's a table free when you arrive. If you book between 6 - 6:30pm, you will have your table for two hours from the start time.

Dogs are more than welcome in the bar and the beer garden, but not in the Pavilion; please let us know if you're bringing them along for lunch or dinner. Dogs are not able to stay in our accommodation.

We reserve the right to charge £25 per person if you forget to cancel your booking or do so less than 24 hours before arrival. We always prefer not to charge, so we will do our best to re-sell your table. Your booking email details how to change or cancel your booking; do let us know if this doesn't reach you.

If you're running late, please call ahead, and we'll try to hold your table. While we can't guarantee to do so for longer than 20 minutes, we'll do our best to work something out.
