Opening Hours
Now closed for the 2024 season; reopening May 2025 |
At The Flying Boat, we’re proud of our partnerships with local suppliers, and quality produce with genuine provenance sits at the heart of our menu.
Daytimes here are about great starts, lazy holiday brunches and perhaps a glass of something chilled in the sunshine. From Abbey Garden mint tea to our signature Espresso blend from Origin Coffee in Cornwall, Bryher Bake Box cakes to tempting brunch dishes that change by the season.
By evening, join us for our ever-changing Tapas Suppers, where the menu changes according to what our local farmers and fishers can supply. Or, if the mood takes you, just join us for drinks and nibbles as the sun sets into the ocean beyond Bryher.
Make a Booking
Booking with Us
There’s no need to book during the day or for evening drinks & nibbles, but reservations are strongly recommended for our Tapas Suppers.
Having said that, If you’re feeling spontaneous, do give us a call or drop in – we often have space, particularly if it’s a nice evening and we can make the most of our outside space.
Please email us for bookings of more than four people. As a very small venue, late cancellations really hit us hard, so if your plans change, please do let us know. Our full terms and conditions – including cancellation policy – is below.
Daytimes
Start the day with fresh pastries and Bryher Bakes or an irresistible bacon brioche bap, an Abbey Garden mint tea, a fresh fruit smoothie or Cornish Origin coffee.
For a leisurely brunch, explore our seasonal and locally sourced menu; think baked St Ewe eggs with tomato and rose harissa ragu or Charlotte potato, pea and ham hock hash.
There’s no need to book during the day (Tuesday – Saturday, 9am - 2pm)
Tapas Suppers
Our Tapas Supper menu changes by what the seasons and our suppliers deliver but there’s always a delightful selection of small plates made to share – or order a couple plus a side to make up a main meal.
Our menu is a celebration of our local fishers and farmers; think dishes like Cornish crab arancini, butterflied Mount’s Bay mackerel, Cornish Charlotte potato tartiflette with Baron Bigod Brie, or Organic Cornish lamb shoulder. Wines are organic; sweets are unassuming but beautifully local.
We strongly recommend booking ahead for our Tapas Suppers (Tuesday to Saturday from 6:30 pm), but feel free to call or drop in if you’re feeling spontaneous, as we can usually make space.
Aperitifs
Drinks and nibbles oceanside as the sun sets; it’s what Tresco holidays are all about.
It’s why we work with our favourite wine merchants, orchards, breweries and distilleries of Scilly, Cornwall and beyond to offer you a small but perfectly formed selection of tipples to lead you through the long summer evenings.
Our tempting selection of nibbles, from mixed olives and roasted salted cashews to St Agnes air-dried beef with cornichons and pickled shallots, might just give you a taste for more. Let the team know and they’ll see if there’s space for one or two more for the Tapas Supper.
There’s no need to book for Drinks & Nibbles (Thursday – Saturday from 6:30 pm)
Table Booking Terms
Reservations are only required for evening dining; there’s no need to book for daytimes or if you’re joining us for a drink in the evening.
You can book online for up to 4 people; for more, please email us. We cannot accept additional party members in the comments box. We recommend you call or email to make multiple bookings. Please let us know when booking if you have any dietary requirements.
We take indoor bookings only, but you're welcome to move outside if there's a table free when you arrive. Dogs are welcome on the terrace but not inside, so if you're bringing a dog, you cannot book ahead.
As a very small venue, late cancellations really hit us hard. As such, we reserve the right to charge £25 per person if you forget to cancel your booking or do so less than 24 hours before arrival. We always prefer not to charge, so we will do our best to re-sell your table. Your booking confirmation email details how to change or cancel your booking; do let us know if this email doesn't reach you.
If you're running late, please call ahead, and we'll try to hold your table. While we can't guarantee to do so for longer than 15 minutes, we'll do our best to work something out.
