Five perfect Christmas cottages

Opt for a stress-free Christmas this year with a festive escape on Tresco. Our homely holiday cottages are ready to welcome you and your family for a peaceful island stay.

From candlelit Christmas carolling in our island church, to pints around the Christmas tree in the decked-out Driftwood Bar at the New Inn, a Tresco Christmas is unlike any other. You’ll become part of our close community whether you’re toasting the festive season with a Christmas Day drink or wading out for a brisk Boxing Day dip with our hardy locals.

Does a festive cottage escape sound like Christmas heaven to you? If so, here are five perfect Christmas cottages which could become your island home from home…

Colossus

Our last available Flying Boat property, majestic Colossus is well-equipped for a multi-generational family retreat. Perched just above Farm Beach, you’ll be ideally situated for coastal pursuits. Pop the Christmas fizz on the seafront terrace and let the enthralling views distract you from your present opening.

Colossus is five minutes from the New Inn for your winter warmers, and just across the road from the Tresco Island Spa, for ultimate relaxation.

Ocean View

With idyllic views across Old Grimsby sound, Ocean View is a great base for a hassle-free Christmas. Gather around the log burner for evenings of board games and festive fun, then fall asleep to the sound of lapping waves…and not much else.

Just along the road is St. Nicholas' Church – don’t miss the Christmas Eve carol service to really incite seasonal cheer. Take a Boxing Day stroll across neighbouring Green Porth up to Blockhouse Castle for impressive panoramic views.

Cowrie

If you’re looking for a cosy Christmas cocoon, Cowrie fits the bill. One of our stylish Sea Garden Apartments, it consists of open-plan living space downstairs and a sumptuous bedroom upstairs, with captivating sea views throughout.

In the run-up to the big day, head across to the nearby indoor pool for a few soothing lengths to wind down. And when Christmas arrives, cook your festive dinner while watching the waves crash on the uninhabited islets just across the water.

Nautilus

Nestled on a rocky outcrop, Nautilus is the ideal spot to experience the wilds of a Tresco winter while keeping cosy and comfortable. Its ‘upside down’ layout means you can watch the rolling swell whilst reclining on the sofa (preferably, with a mince pie and a sherry in hand!).

If we’re blessed with a calm, balmy Christmas Day (as is often the case) you might like to take Christmas dinner on the sheltered balcony which spans between the cottage and the cliff side granite boulders. On Boxing Day, walk off your indulgence with a bracing clamber around Tresco’s north coast – watch out for sea spray!

Seabreeze

Our newest property, magnificent Seabreeze is something truly special. Boasting five ensuite bedrooms and bespoke interiors throughout, there’s plenty of space and luxury for a large family or a group of friends looking to make unforgettable Christmas memories.

We could tell you all about the gorgeous beaches nearby, the tempting indoor pool just minutes away, and the blustery island-wide walks you could take, but we don’t think you’ll be able to tear yourself away from the cottage.

If you'd like to book in for a Tresco Christmas, contact our reservations team on 01720 422849 or via email.
